Sydney (Carpet python)
Morelia spilota

Carpet pythons are medium-sized constrictors. They are found in Australia in the temperate rainforests. They can climb trees and have a prehensile tail that aids them in arboreal pursuits. Carpet pythons are colorful—jet black with bright yellow markings and a white underside. They are nocturnal preferring to do most of their activity during the night. Their average length is 5-6 feet. These pythons are known to be great escape artists.
Sydney was picked up by a local animal control agency. He was probably someone’s escaped pet. No one claimed him and after several weeks the SPCA needed to find a home for him having no budget for feeder rodents.
